The project enhances job opportunities and income for agricultural enterprises by promoting economic and environmental sustainability in Lebanon's coastal and Bekaa Valley fruit sectors. It focuses on improving the quality, sustainability, and social inclusion of production, management, and commercial practices among small producers, their cooperatives, and workers. Key efforts include skill development, collective management models, and establishing processing and storage facilities. Emphasizing climate change resilience, the project aims to strengthen the agricultural community's ability to withstand climatic shocks. Additionally, it prioritizes youth involvement, providing training and employment opportunities to young people, thereby fostering a new generation of skilled agricultural workers.
This project is important in Lebanon because it strenghtens the resilience and sustainability of the fruit sector, creates jobs for youth, and equips small producers to better withstand climate and economic shocks.
